Handmade sterling silver split twig figures with a turquoise colored bead. Made in Flagstaff, AZ by Roger Rowland. 1" tall on sterling silver ear wires.
Split Twig figurines are from the oldest recorded humans to live at the Grand Canyon over 4,000 years ago. Often depicting a big horn sheep or mule deer, and are suspected to be part of a hunting ritual asking for the animal's spirit to be blessed before taking their lives.
A former river guide on the Colorado River, Roger takes much of his inspiration from the landscape and Native culture surrounding the Grand Canyon, as well as beauftiful areas in Arizona such as Flagstaff and the Sonoran desert.
